Saddle Up
April 29, 2020
I didn’t expect this pandemic. I don’t think the world did. I think it has shocked us all. We have all been forced into our homes and told not to leave. For me, that comes more naturally since I have no problem being at home; maybe that’s my concern? Either way, being forced in containment puts both our mind and body to the test.
For me, it has been a significant switch in my business. More businesses have had to turn to the internet to keep their business going. Some are starting from scratch. Some need to update their current customers during this strange time, and others are trying to develop software to serve their customers better. In any way you look at it, people are leaning heavily on technology at this time. Our industry has tremendous pressure to produce faster and more robust. Oh yea, and being available 24/7!
With the increased video conferencing, I have invited my clients and co-workers into my home office. They have noticed and commented about my standing desk and how much a rave about my saddle chair. With the increase of hours, my co-workers and I have been feeling the pain, both mentally and physically.
I chose my office furniture purely on functionality. I have to move while I work, so standing was a must, I even break out a dance move if there is a good song playing on Pandora. However, I can’t stand all day that I knew. I made the switch to the saddle chair about four years ago when my back had gone out. I suffer from sciatica and low back pain, thanks to some hard work on the tennis courts. After some extensive research, I found that the most natural way to sit is as if you were to sit on a horse. The way your pelvis naturally rolls forward helps create a more natural curve in your spine. I also learned that doctors like to use them during long surgeries. Explains the small flat rolling stools in the doctor’s exam rooms.
I have to admit I do boast about my chair. It was a gamechanger in my business, productivity, and my low back and sciatica health. If you are interested in the chair I purchased, click here. No affiliate link here, I’m just a happy consumer wanting to share and help others.
